에어비앤비는 지난 해 자사 가맹점에서 할로윈 파티 도중 총격전이 발생한 이후로 파티를 금지했습니다.

이번 조치는 이미 8월 중순부터 미국, 영국, 프랑스, 스페인의 가맹 숙소에 적용되고 있습니다.

에어비앤비 측은 코로나 확산 방지를 위해 정부가 술집, 클럽 등을 규제하며 하우스 파티가 증가하였으며,이와 같은 조치를 취하게 되었다고 설명하였습니다. 또한, 자사 홈페이이서 이처럼 무책임한 사람들을 대상으로 사업하지 않을 것이라고 입장을 밝혔습니다.

Airbnb is banning house parties worldwide as it tries to clean up its reputation and follow limits on gatherings that have been put in place to fight the coronavirus.
The home sharing company will limit guests in its rented properties to 16 people, though it may offer exceptions for small hotels or other event venues.
Airbnb said it may take legal action against guests and hosts who violate the ban. On August 12, for the first time, Airbnb took legal action against a guest who held an unauthorized party in Sacramento County, California.
Airbnb has never allowed unauthorized parties, and the company said nearly 75% of its listings ban parties completly. But after a deadly shooting during an unauthorized party at a California Airbnb property last Halloween, the company has taken multiple steps to stop such parties.
Last November, Airbnb started reviewing US and Canadian reservations to remove any that seemed intended for unauthorized parties, such as if a guest booked a one-night stay close to their home.
In July, Airbnb banned US and Canadian guests under age 25 with fewer than three positive reviews from booking entire homes close to where they live. It expanded that policy to the United Kingdom, Spain and France in mid-August.
Airbnb said it also plans to expand a hotline for neighbors to report unauthorized parties.
Airbnb says around 2% of the 7 million properties listed on its site are large enough to be booked for 16 or more people. There are at least 53 such properties in London, 277 in Beijing, 170 in New York and 116 in Los Angeles, according to the company’s website.
With many bars and nightclubs closed due to the coronavirus, Airbnb says there has been an increase in large house parties.
“We do not want that type of business,” Airbnb said in a post on its website.
