지난 3월 미 중앙은행인 연방준비제도는 기준금리를 0% 수준으로 인하하였습니다.

연준은 성명에서 저금리를 유지하기 위해 재무부 발행 채권과 주택담보 채권을 매입할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.

0%대의 초저금리 상태가 지속되면 소비자와 기업에 대한 대출이 늘어 침체된 경제를 살리는데 도움이 될 것으로 보입니다.

0% 수준 최저금리

 

The Federal Reserve signaled it will keep its key short-term interest rate near zero for the foreseeable future as it tries to prop up a sinking economy.

미국 연방준비제도는 침몰하고 있는 경제를 지원하려고 노력하는 동안 당분간 단기기준 금리를 0% 수준을 유지할 것이라고 시사했습니다.

The Fed said it will also keep buying Treasury and motagage bonds to help keep rates low.

연준은 또한 저금리를 유지하기위해 재무부발행 채권과 주택담보 채권을 계속 매입할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.

The Central Bank added that it is committed to using its full range of tools to support the U.S. economy in this challenging time.

중앙 은행은 이 어려운 시기에 미국 경제를 지원하기 위해 모든 도구를 활용할 결의가 되어 있다고 덧붙였습니다.

Widespread business shutdown caused nearly 30 million workers to lose jobs over the six weeks.

광범위한 사업 폐쇄로 6주 동안 약 3천만명의 근로자들은 실직했습니다.

Fed Chair Jerome H. Powell said the U.S. was experiencing an economic hit without "modern precedent."
